First let me start by welcoming everyone to my Rocket Nation blog! As some of you know, I've been covering University of Toledo sports since 2001. Over the years I've grown from an independent site with no contacts to working as the Managing Editor of Rocket Digest, a site with media credentials and access to players and coaches for interviews, as well as recruiting information.
I enjoyed my time at Rocket Digest, but the time has come to go in a new direction. While details and "behind the scenes" items are being worked out, I will do my best to keep you all informed on Rocket sports with this blog. Stay tuned to an announcement on my next project very soon!
Now on to the game. The Rockets head to West Lafayette with a 2-1 overall record and 2-0 conference record. The next few games will be non-conference games for Toledo, but they are important to the overall success of the football program, and the push to become bowl eligible. Purdue is a team that Toledo can beat, but the offense needs to continue to get better and put some points on the board.
Freshman running back David Fluellen has been a pleasant surprise for the Rockets, and expect him to get a chance to show his stuff once again this Saturday. Defensively, Toledo will be without senior DE Alex Johnson. Likely replacing him at DE will be Douglas Westbrook. The Rocket secondary will be called upon to come up big against Purdue's offense.
Saturday's game against Purdue will air live on the Big Ten Network, at Noon.
Certainly going to miss your input/articles/insight over on Rocket Digest. Thanks for all the great info and for being fans with all the rest of us. Best of luck to you in the future and however you invest your time from here on out. We'll keep an eye on your new blog and hope you'll continue to bring us the same kind of good stuff you have over the past years.
